On June 6, 1944. 135,000 soldiers from the US, Great Brittan & Canada landed on 50 miles of beachhead to fight 500,000 German troops. D-Day and the Battle of Normandy will be re-lived through guided visits to the battlegrounds of this historic area of France. Explore the powerful Caen Memorial and visit the remains of the allied forces artificial bridge at Arromanches. After lunch visit the ominous concrete German bunkers at Longues and the famous landing port of Pointe du Hoc. In the afternoon visit the resting place of thousands of US soldiers at the American cemetery of Saint Laurent. Continue on to the most famous WWII landing beachhead; Omaha beach where 3000 soldiers lost their lives under immense fire from heavily fortified German positions. Come away with a new level of understanding of one of the biggest historic events in world history. Return to your hotel in the afternoon.
